Outdoor Learning

Frensham Heights School places strong emphasis on developing abilities via outdoor education. The campus includes elevated rope courses, a zipline, vertical climbing surfaces, and bike trails where students build confidence, empathy, and resilience while learning to collaborate and communicate effectively. These adventures also serve as preparation for the Duke of Edinburgh Award, which participants can complete up to gold level.

Initiatives at Frensham Heights School

The school offers opportunities that extend well surpassing conventional curriculum. For students in Years 7 through 9, teamwork and leadership take center stage through meaningful projects like an eco-friendly garden and a self-managed village that foster creative thinking. Year 9 students also embark on a multidisciplinary trip to Peak District—one of Britain’s premier national parks—which complements this hands-on experience.

Morning Talks

Students from Years 7 to 13 attend morning talks on diverse topics at the Aldridge Theatre, where guest speakers address everything from climate change and elections to pressing social issues. Past speakers have included World War II veterans and Nelson Mandela’s personal bodyguard, offering truly unique perspectives and insights that extend far beyond textbooks.

Broadening Horizons

All Sixth Form students complete this mandatory curriculum crafted to equip them for engaged involvement in contemporary society and authentic-world challenges. It explores both global and local issues while fostering analytical reasoning abilities, as the entire course designed and delivered by the philosophy, religion, and ethics department. \

The Edge Programme

The Edge Programme complements traditional A-Level subjects by developing hands-on competencies such as leadership, commercial awareness, innovative thinking, and collaborative work. Delivered as short courses lasting five or ten weeks, the programme records student experience on the Unifrog platform—a resource that proves valuable when applying to universities and planning future careers.
